Evolution of the Human Race Image One

TECHNIQUE –
For this hand drawn illustration, I attempted to mimic life through sketch. I dabbled in shading in order to portray angles, lighting and shape, and provide an image that looked realistic.

PROCESS –
As I am not an overly talented sketcher, I began with a reference image and went from there, referring to shapes, limbs and posture in order to attempt to create an illustration that was obvious to viewers. However, this image did prove difficult for me to draw, due to the slumping nature of the subject, therefore altering the proportions that needed to be drawn.

REASONING –
The brief was to create a 5 image collection that depicted the evolution of time, I immediately knew that the progression of the human race was an obvious, clear evolution of time.

REFLECTION –
My lack of drawing ability was definitely a weakness. I don’t have the skills to draw anything from my imagination, instead the use of a reference picture does prove very beneficial. This allowed me to regularly check my work as I went against a reference image, to ensure that I was maintaining believable proportions, angles and shading.
